Tina Griffin has been chosen for the position of Director of the Washington State Gambling Commission. Griffin served as interim director since April 2021. Prior to that appointment, she served as the agency's assistant director and has held various positions throughout the agency in her over 29 years working at the Commission.
Griffin is licensed by the State Board of Accountancy and is a certified fraud examiner by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She has a degree from Portland State University and is a graduate of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy of the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission.
It is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of this organization for an internal candidate to have risen to the top of the heap from a pool of candidates from across the country, said WSGC Chair Bud Sizemore.
I want to thank the other four commissioners for the countless hours that they committed to this process and their thoughtfulness in reaching this decision. Sizemore also congratulated WSGC staff members saying, there are not enough words of praise and appreciation in the English language to express my feelings when I think about all that has been accomplished while short-handed and facing historic challenges.
Griffin assumed the position of Director effective April 1, 2022.
