The Gambling Commission was notified there's been a payment redirect fraud incident related to billing requests sent from the Gambling Commission to outside entities. In this incident, the email account requesting payment was disguised to look as if it were from a Gambling Commission employee's state agency email account.
We would like to remind our licensees and partners to remain vigilant and follow these suggestions:
- Review the domain name the email address is coming from (the part after the @ symbol in an email address) to ensure it is from wsgc.wa.gov.
- Reach out to the agency individual sending the email if you have any questions or concerns about the email.
- Do not reply to the original email - start a new email chain if the form was received via email.
